Our Toolmaking History

Ledwell Plastics was formed from a toolmaking company over 40 years ago. Today utilising the latest and most used world wide Cad Cam system Mastercam combined with over 40 years experience we are able to produce exceptionally high quality injection mould tooling.

Tooling Design and Manufacturer

All your tooling designs are completed by our highly skilled tool designers, all tooling is designed by us using Solidworks 3d cad system. Solidworks is a very powerful CAD system which is renowned the world over for it’s flexibility and allows us to be able to create not only detailed tooling designs but also your part designs which the tooling is then designed from.

All tools are manufactured on the latest CNC (computer numerical control) machinery which combined with Mastercam enables us to direct machine from the tooling design. We can manufacture tooling from aluminium to hardened steel and depending on your situation we can recommend what will suit you best.

We also have spark erosion equipment enabling us to add texture or manufacture difficult designs or thin sections.

Our working envelope is 1600 mm long by 700 mm wide by 500 mm high. This compliments our injection moulding facility.

Our Guarantee

All your tooling manufactured by Ledwell Plastics is GUARANTEED for a minimum life cycle. Rather than guarantee our tools for a period of time we believe it is better to give you a exact number of cycles with no specific time limit! When you work with us you know where you stand. This also shows our commitment and the value we can offer over our competitors. We believe this gives you the best possible tooling life guarantee available.

On a Budget?

Tooling is usually the largest investment for many of the products we manufacturer for our customers. Knowing this we have put in place various ways of helping our customers, FREE design advice  being the main cost saving but also our standard bolster system.

We have developed a standard bolster system that enables our customers to get their products to market at a lower cost. For a full explanation of the pro’s and con’s of this route click here.
