Sustainable injection moulding

You may not associate sustainability with plastic, however, there are many ways that we can achieve true sustainability. Recycling is the most obvious key to sustainability, but let’s not dismiss other options such as biodegradable polymers, which can completely and safely biodegrade, or filled polymers that can offset the amount of plastic polymer in the final product reducing the plastic content. Available to us is a truly unique material called UBQ, this is made from unsorted domestic refuse waste, which is completely sustainable and carbon neutral. Having been in the plastic injection moulding business for over 55 years, we know that most plastic polymers can be recycled. We have first-hand knowledge of this and can offer you the best advice on how to proceed with your sustainability project.

Over the last 4 years, we’ve also worked closely with a client to gain in-depth knowledge of bio-resins and understand their benefits as well as their limitations. Wood fibre polymers are another area that we’ve trialled and tested so whatever your questions or intentions around plastic recycling, we want to find the best option for you.

Process & Project Management

Our team will work with you through the following stages of our process to ensure we deliver top-quality service and top-quality products.

Request for quote
At the start of any project, we’ll schedule an initial consultation to listen and understand exactly what you’re looking for. We will sign an NDA and review your CAD files.

Technical advice
Drawing on decades of expertise, we’ll think carefully about the design for your tooling and offer advise to ensure you have the best and most cost-effective solution for manufacturing and materials.

A transparent quotation
We’ll explain your quotation face-to-face so you know exactly what you’re paying for. Each quotation includes itemised tooling and part prices, plus a guaranteed timeline before you’re liable for repairs.

The order is received
Once the order is received your project plan will be fully detailed. Your project manager will explain, in detail, your project plan and timeline together with our service level agreement.

Design review
As we move through our design process we will carry out regular design reviews of the part for injection moulding and the tooling. Our DFM will ensure the part design and tooling are fully optimise for moulding, cost and quality.

Tool design agreed
Once the tooling design is completed we arrange a meeting to discuss and explain the final design. As part of the above DFM review process above we would have already advised you of design improvements.

Weekly review and updates
You project manager will hold regular project reviews and updates with you so you know what is happening and are aware of any project time line changes.

Trials and Tests
To validate and verify the mould tool and component parts we will carry out trials and test. At this stage any modification will be done.

Approval & sign off
Once you are 100% satisfied with the trial products we will sign off.

QA Specifications
All quality assurance processes and procedures for the component parts will be documented and put in place. This will include all moulding and assembly work. First off masters will be approved before we move to full scale production.

Production and quality
Production will be scheduled and controlled using in touch monitoring software. We run a continual improvement process which will ensure quality is maintained and improved.
