Design Work

As part of our service we offer a FREE DESIGN ADVICE SERVICE which sometimes involves modifications of customers’ existing CAD designs, when we offer this service it is based upon the following terms and conditions. All design completed by Ledwell Plastics Ltd are intended for use by Ledwell Plastics Ltd to produce Tooling and parts from.

If any of these MODIFICATIONS, DESIGN SOLUTIONS, TOOLING SOLUTIONS are copied and produced elsewhere Ledwell Plastics Ltd reserve the right to seek compensation for the time taken to produce the designs. At the discretion of Ledwell Plastics Ltd the designs may be made available for purchase.

If a customer requires support with a new concept, design and also amends to existing tooling then we can also help and depending on the amount of work involved we may require a payment for the time taken or we may provide this free of charge if the amount of work is minimal. Each job or project is very individual, and an estimate will be given at the time for you once we understand the project requirements and your needs, we can provide a verbal guide and follow up with a written quotation.

Rapid Prototypes

Once the design is complete it is often worth having a rapid Prototype manufactured to give you the opportunity to test your solutions our terms for this are as follows.

We will actively seek quotation for the Prototype on your behalf should you wish us to do so.

Each of the company’s that we deal with have signed confidentiality agreements with Ledwell Plastics Ltd to ensure that your product idea is kept safe.

At this point then we offer you two routes.

One would be for us to deal with the enquiry handling all the technical issues and purchasing, for this we add an admin fee of 20-25% depending on the value of the prototype.

Alternatively, you are free to deal direct with the company and save the 20-25% admin fee.

If we have designed the parts for you, we will send the info direct to your chosen company.

Alternatively, we can produce smaller 3D printed components (220mm x 220mm x 200mm) in house on our BCN Sigmax desktop printer.

This 3D process is widely known as FDM – Fused Deposition Modelling and the quality is not as good as sintered components, but it is far cheaper and often good enough to provide a prototype for initial assessments.

Our payment terms are Pro-Forma for all Prototypes and as such payment is required prior to ordering rapid prototypes for you.

Tooling

We produce Injection Mould tooling in house as well as sourcing from local suppliers and our terms are as follows.

85% of the Tooling order +VAT will be invoiced for immediate payment and the remaining balance +VAT seven days after the tooling first off samples have been submitted.

Once we have built a successful business relationship and subject to your business credit rating the terms change to the following, 50% then the balance seven days from tooling completion.

Any tooling modifications that are chargeable are required to be paid in full prior to any production moulding commencement.

Injection Moulding (Including Rapid Tooling parts)

The terms for Moulded parts are as follows.

All tooling invoices are to be paid for in full including VAT prior to production of parts.

Initial order is proforma, after the initial order terms change to strictly 30 days.

If the account goes overdue the account will be placed on stop and no parts will be produced or shipped.

Minimum order of £350 +VAT per order or a setup charge applies.

Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) of 50 parts for Rapid Tooling

Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) of 1000 off parts for Production Tooling

Rapid Tooling

This Rapid Tooling Service is for smaller components we make a tool that has cavities for a number of customers all on the one tool with a switch-able runner system, to select the component mould.

This will save each customer material cost and bolster build cost, making the tooling quicker and cheaper to manufacture.

The major difference to our standard service is that we would own the Rapid Tooling this is because if each tool has a number of cavities on it for differing customers we would have to be the owners to offer the grouped solution and save costs for our clients.

The Rapid Tooling Service is primarily aimed at the prototype / short run business area where smaller numbers of Real Injection Moulded parts are needed quickly rather than printed prototypes.

Payment terms are as per normal trading terms. Any modifications that are chargeable are required to be paid in full prior to any production moulding commencement.

Tooling Storage

We store all tooling in house FOC for the first year, after the first year we ask the following.

If the tooling has an order placed within each 12-month period starting from its creation, then we will store the tooling at no charge to you.

Alternatively, if no order is received, we reserve the right to place a charge for storage and note this may be off site at a storage facility.

Additionally, you are able to have the tooling scrapped which we will do FOC or you can arrange for it to be collected for you to store.
The storage charge is based on the following criteria, £120 +VAT per year per tool for tools that are 300mm x 300mm and under and £160 +VAT per year per tool for any tool that is larger than this.

Material Selection

We have over 50 years of experience in the Injection Moulding industry with a vast array of polymers available to us which is ever changing and progressing all the time and we are delighted to offer FREE ADVICE on Material Selection for your product along with recycled material options/solutions as a viable option for you and assist with ecological challenges and sustainability.

We have extensive knowledge of both material and part design coupling this with help from our excellent supply chain we can often recommend the ideal material for your project and component(s).

Due to the bespoke nature of injection moulding it is essential that component/product testing and proof of viability of the chosen material is carried out by you/the client for example: – Fire resistance, chemical resistance, mechanical properties, UV resistance ratings. We can provide you with the latest data sheets so that you can select the material that suits your needs, we can often provide physical examples.

We can provide support and guidance free of charge on the understanding that the testing responsibility and material selection responsibility/guarantees are with you the client/customer and any advice that may be given is in no way a guarantee that the material selection will be fit for purpose.
